Famous photograph of Johnny Cash at San Quentin in 1969 by Jim Marshall in poster form!
According to Marshall, the story behind the image is one of collaboration; “I said, ‘John, let’s do a shot for the warden’.”
However, many have claimed, since the time the photo was taken, that Cash was bothered by the continued presence of Jim Marshall, and flipped the middle finger at the cameraman out of annoyance.
A mystery for the ages!
